Teacher Daryl Bilandzija was surprised during Odyssey Charter School's Earth Day assembly yesterday to find that he was named the winner of Good Magazine's Great American Teach-Off.
Good Magazine's competition selected ten teachers, and two were voted off every week in online polling. Bilandzija, a language arts and history teacher, made it all the way despite competition from much larger schools.
The school receives a $10,000 check, which he told PSN will be used to install a stage in the sustainable garden he started on campus, and sliding glass doors between his classroom and the garden.
