A LATE SEASON STORM...LOCATED A FEW HUNDRED MILES WEST OF LOS ANGELES... IS EXPECTED TO SPREAD RAIN AND LOCALLY GUSTY SOUTH WINDS INTO SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA TODAY INTO EARLY THURSDAY. THERE IS ALSO A SLIGHT CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE AREA THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING. RAINFALL ESTIMATES CALL FOR BETWEEN 0.25 AND 0.75 INCHES ACROSS SAN LUIS OBISPO AND WESTERN SANTA BARBARA COUNTY...AND BETWEEN 0.50 TO 1.00 INCHES FROM SOUTHERN SANTA BARBARA COUNTY TO LOS ANGELES COUNTY. ACROSS SOUTH FACING MOUNTAIN SLOPES LOCAL ACCUMULATIONS OF 1.25 INCHES OR HIGHER WILL BE POSSIBLE. RAIN IS EXPECTED TO TAPER OFF TONIGHT...WITH A CHANCE OF SHOWERS LINGERING THROUGH THURSDAY MORNING. SNOW LEVELS WILL BE ABOVE 8000 FEET THROUGH THIS EVENING THEN WILL DROP TO AROUND 7000 FEET BY THURSDAY MORNING. LITTLE OR NO SNOW ACCUMULATION IS EXPECTED BELOW 7000 FEET WITH THIS SYSTEM. RESIDENTS OF SOUTHWESTERN CALIFORNIA SHOULD CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE LATEST NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FORECASTS AND STATEMENTS AS THIS STORM APPROACHES THE AREA TODAY.
