Altadena Flag Day: Starting at 1 PM, we raise the flag at the Altadena Community Center, 730 E. Altadena Dr. Altadena's own flag will be ready for its closeup in a ceremony that will include Rep. Adam Schiff, state Sen. Carol Liu, and Assemblyman Anthony Portantino. MIchele Zack will give a talk about Altadena history, and Altadena Heritage and the Altadena Historical Society will both be open to the public that day.
Poetry and Cookies: the Altadena Library's annual celebration of Poetry Month takes place at the Altadena Senior Center, 530 E. Mariposa St., from 2-4 PM. There will be poetry readings, an open mic, many poetry books for sale, and the crowning of Altadena's new poet laureate Linda Dove. The poetry is family-friendly, and there are cookies available, so bring everybody!
