The annual Peace Officers Memorial Torch Run starts Friday at the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department headquarters in Monterey Park, and winds its way through all sheriff stations, with the last leg from Crescenta Valley to Altadena on Sun., May 20.
Arrival of the runners is expected at around 2:30 PM at Altadena Sheriff Station, 780 E. Altadena Drive. It will be followed by a ceremony honoring all peace officers in California who have fallen in the past year, or who have not been honored in previous years. This year will also include an LA County constable who died in 1924.
This year the run will commemorate the end of watch (EOW) of:
