- Friends of the Library annual book sale: pre-sale to members of the Friends is from 3-7 PM today, book sale opens 10-4 Saturday and 1-4 PM Sunday.
- Join the Arroyos & Foothills Conservancy for a look at historic Lower Millard Canyon. AFC will host four hikes on Saturday (at 9 AM, 10:30 AM, noon, or 1:30 PM) with docent experts in biology, geology, history or hydrology. Learn how the Altadena Crest Trail will be extended through the "La Vina gap".
- Altadena Community Church hosts The Crown City Symphony featuring cellist Laszlo Mezo in a free concert Saturday, at 2 PM. Mr. Mezo will perform "Pezzo Capriccioso" and "Variations on a Rococo Theme" by Tchaikovsky with the Crown City Symphony. The orchestra will perform "Pavane" by Faure, with guest conductor, Cynthia Nunes, and "Sigurd Jorsalfar" by Grieg.
- Altadenablog sponsor Webster's Fine Stationers hosts Anne Bannon and Michael Holland of the wine blog OddBallGrape.com for a wine tasting and discussion from 4-7 PM. Saturday. Local writers Aldonia Bailey and Heather Hilliard-Bonds will also be reading from their work.
We will be taking our turn to take our son up to Sacramento today for his drug trial, so we'll be out of pocket for awhile, and back again Saturday!
