The public is invited to enjoy a day of youth basketball, food and drink, and raffle prizes at the Brandon Jackson Basketball Shootout this Saturday, June 23, from 8 AM to 8 PM at LaSalle High School, 3800 East Sierra Madre Blvd. in Pasadena.
All proceeds from admission ($5), raffle tickets, and food and drink sales will benefit the Brandon Jackson Memorial Scholarship Fund, providing college scholarships to deserving local youth. This year they anticipate giving three $2500 scholarships and a fourth (amount to be determined) based on proceeds from the raffle.
Raffle prizes have been generously donated by local businesses including: 20/10 Vision Care, Adobe Design, Altadena Hardware, Eiji's Florist, Family Fashion Clothing, Johnny's Sport Shop, Mota's Mexican Restaurant, Perry's Joint, Standard Ice Cream, Steppe's Barber Shop, Steve's Bike Shop, Toto's Beauty Supply, Wally's Barber Shop, Webster's Community Pharmacy, and Webster's Fine Wine and Liquor.
It's not too late to make a donation to the Scholarship Fund. Checks can be made out to First Presbyterian Church Altadena, with an note on the memo line indicating it is for the "Brandon Jackson Scholarship", and mailed to the church at 2775 Lincoln Ave., Altadena, CA 91001.
