The board of Pasadena Community College, which had planned on meeting in Altadena tonight, will instead meet at their regular site in Pasadena.
A press release from PCC said that, instead of the "listening" type of board meeting they envisioned, they will instead hold its regular business meeting at 7 PM tonight at Creveling Lounge on the PCC campus.
The meeting was moved, it said, "due to anticipated attendance and limitations with space." The regular meeting will begin at 6 PM with a closed session.
The change of venue may be due to the emerging scandal of two school administrators who are being investigated for contracting irregularities. The Pasadena Sun earlier reported that Richard van Pelt of Altadena, the school's top financial executive, and facilities supervisor Al Hutchings were put on leave following allegations that the two secretly formed a company that had been doing business with firms they hired in an official capacity.
Today, PCC Board President Geoffrey Baum released a statement that said the board, in closed session, terminated van Pelt's contract immediately and have recommended the termination of Hutchings, who is a classified employee
