Sojourner left the Earth for Mars,
a shoe box size fit in.
Then Opportunity came next
with Spirit as its twin.
Two hundred pounds or so, those two,
that searched the Martian Plain.
Now Curiosity's the one
to make the grandest gain.
Two thousand pounds, this latest one
like TRANSFORMERS, the movie.
A truly magical machine
transitions---really groovy!
In two year spans, the time was right
and planets did align.
The search for water is the goal
and hit spot on in time.
The Gale Crater is the plan
with mountain in its midst.
to study layers of mountain soil
that on the plains is missed.
So August 5th, this year the date
to land on Martian soil,
we're seeing all the planning here
in science love and toil.
Of course, I learned this all today,
Open House for Science.
And JPLs the place to be,
for Nation's growth reliance!
But that's not all that you can see
and much more understand!
