The Turkish Room was a pavilion at the Columbian Exhibition in Chicago in 1893. Andrew McNally, co-founder of one of the world's largest map publishers, was so taken with it he purchased it and incorporated it into his mansion in Altadena.
The Turkish Room will be one of the highlights of the Altadena Historical Society's lecture and tour of the McNally House, 654 E, Mariposa, on Sun., July 15, from 2-4 PM. Archivist/historian Tim Gregory will talk about McNally's life, the history of the house, and how it was successfully nominated to be in the National Register of Historic Places.
Reservations are $25 for AHS members, and $30 for non-members. Only 30 spots will be available. Reservations must be made in advance.
