Big Hat Promotions' summer cowboy and western concert series in Altadena starts next week -- but you have to hurry, because it's selling out fast.
Big Hat's Bob Mann says:
Juni Fisher is among the nation's top western music performers, touring the country and delighting audiences with her original songs, storytelling and guitar playing. Fisher's talent is boundless and her work has been recognized with an abundance of awards and media recognition for musical excellence including being named 2011 Entertainer of the Year, Female Performer of the Year and Writer/Singer of Song of the Year by the Western Music Association. Only six seats remain for Juni's show and she always sells out.
Award-winning singer/songwriter Dave Stamey, Western Music Association's 2011 Male Performer of the Year, is our featured performer for our July 7 house concert. Dave's performance is already sold out and we have a waiting list in case of cancellations.
We will close out our summer series on Saturday, July 21 with R.W. Hampton and seats are still available. We feel extremely fortunate to have been able to book R.W. for our house concert series this year. R.W. Hampton is one of the leading Western entertainers in America today. His fans come from all walks of life. He's loved by cowboys, cowgirls, ranch hands and rodeo stars, but also by people who have never seen a cow up close – or cared to. He is today's voice of Cowboy Music.
Blessed with a wonderfully rich baritone voice, R.W. has a quality of genuineness about him that resonates when he's on stage, in person or just through the words of his songs. For R.W. has lived what he sings about, and the world of early mornings, hard work, rough horses, maverick cattle and new ranges fits him. R.W. was born to be a cowboy and he has lived and worked on ranches all over the American West.
In 1985 R.W. added to his resume when he worked in Kenny Rogers' movie “Wild Horses”. He has appeared in twelve movies since, including “The Tracker” with Kris Kristofferson and two other Kenny Rogers films, “The Gambler III” and a documentary on the American cowboy. R.W. has performed all over the United States including The Grand Ole Opry in Nashville and The Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. He has also appeared at cowboy events in the United Kingdom, Australia and Brazil.
His peers in the Western entertainment industry have honored R.W.'s performing and songwriting fifteen times, perhaps most notably in November, 2011, when he was inducted into the Western Music Association's Hall of Fame. R.W. received the first of his industry accolades in 1996, when the Academy of Western Artists presented him with their first Will Rogers awards, naming him both Male Vocalist of the Year and Entertainer of the Year. Early in 2011 R.W. received a Wrangler Award (his third) from the National Cowboy Museum and Western Heritage Center in the “Outstanding Original Western Composition” category.
Reservations are a must and can be made by emailing big.hat@sbcglobal.net. As hosts for these events we provide our guests with a complete cowboy BBQ dinner and beverages. We ask for a $45 per person cash donation to show appreciation for our performers and help them cover their expenses. For more details, please visit www.bighatonline.com.
