The National Weather Service is predicting more heat today, possibly in the triple digits, as well as an increased fire danger in the mountains.
LA County has opened up 55 cooling centers throughout the county if you need to escape the heat. Locally, the closest are the Altadena Senior Center, 560 E. Mariposa St., open Mon-Fri. 8 AM-5 PM; and the Pasadena Senior Center, 85 East Holly St., Pasadena, open Mon-Fri. 8:30 AM-4:30 PM and Sat. 8:30 AM-3 PM.
We also recommend the Altadena Main Library, 600 E. Mariposa St., as a good place to spend a few hours out of the heat.
