- Farnsworth: Sid Gally's look at local history in the PSN is about Gen. Charles Farnsworth, an Altadena resident and career military officer who served from Alaska to Mexico and fought in the Spanish American War and WWI. He supervised construction of the park that bears his name today.
- Folk Festival: KNBC's blog looks at the New LA Folk Festival next Saturday at the Zorthian Ranch, and they've titled the story "Altadena Awesome." Well, of course!
- Pet license sweep: Public safety volunteer Carolyn Seitz tells us that County Animal Control is making a sweep through town, checking for unlicensed animals. You can renew your license online here, or by phone at 877-UPAYPET (877 872-9738). If you don't need to renew your license, well, have your papers in order ….
- Package thieves: We've gotten some emails and the chatter on the newsgroups is about package thieves -- people in the President Streets neighborhood who've had packages delivered reported them missing, or sometimes left opened on their front porch. You may want to send 'em to a neighbor who's in all day, have them delivered to your work, or rent a box at another location (sponsor Webster's Fine Stationers has such a service) and have your package sent there. We wish we could recommend the post office, which opened a similar service for boxholders, but the time we had a package sent there as a test, they forwarded it to our home instead (FAIL!).
