" Petition from the East Side- West Side Squirrels"
from gloriana casey
The Squirrel's council spoke today,
about the dearth of trees:
Those winds of change blew down our homes
we're begging of you please!
A mighty wind blew all away!
We ask for your help true.
For we in truth did plant the trees;
they're your enjoyment too.
Now some do think the acorn is
the father to the tree.
But really give us credit too;
we plant for us and THEE!
We plant the nuts that do grow tall,
our industry serves you.
So plant more trees on the WEST side,
the least that you can do!
And not just acorns do we plant---
fig ----and fruit trees tall.
For SHARING is our middle name!
Our work ---it serves us all.
It seems to us, oh County ones
A TREE DESERT is here.
The West Side is an equal home
for all our LIFE forms dear.
The Bird Council, it meets tonight,
and song birds are aghast!
They sing the sun up every day,
perhaps that time is past!
So EQUAL TREES for Equal Life---
Bipeds of the County.
All life ----it benefits from trees,
and birds ---they do get pouty!
A Silent Spring in store for us
without nests and some trees.
A sad and joyless future life
will bring us to our knees.
A TREE DESERT is in the WEST,
and squirrels need their drays.
Democracy in planting trees,
does serve the humans ways!
And so we sing the East Side Song;
it is the same for WEST.
For squirrels chatter mightily
for EQUAL TREE life zest!
