From John S. Benedict, Captain
Altadena Sheriff's Station
From all the chatter, I would think that we had an abundance of package and mail thefts, but we have only received a couple of reports from those of you who were victims of this form of crime.
It is imperative that you report this criminal activity so we can investigate and get a real picture of the crime trends in the community.
If you don't report criminal incidents:
1. We can't respond appropriately with needed resources to address the problem
2. We can't ultimately catch offenders that are victimizing our neighborhoods
3. We can't document crime trends in your area when they are occurring and we need to do that when it's beginning
4. We can't address the criminal issues proactively
5. We can't work together with other agencies to advise them of issues they might have as well (Criminals don't recognize borders)
Reporting crimes and suspicious actively and quickly to the Altadena Sheriff's Station is key to combating criminal activity in our community.
If you are among those people talking about having been a victim of parcel theft, call the Sheriff's Station as soon as possible (626-798-1131) and ask to file a report, or come to the Sheriff's Station to report it.
