- Altadenan vs. autism: In an article in the NY Times, Moises Velasquez Manoff looks at recent advances in understanding the cause of autism. In part he looks at the work of Caltech scientist (and La Solana resident) Paul Patterson, whosr research seems to indicate that at least a subset of autism may be caused by the mother's own immune system.

- Relay for Life wrap party: The American Cancer Society's Altadena Relay for LIfe wrap party will be held Wed., Aug. 29, at the Altadena Community Center, 730 E. Altadena Dr., 6:30-8:30 PM. Prizes will be awarded to individuals and teams, there will be fun games, and more stuff to celebrate the Atladena Relay for Life (which has brought in almost $26.000 thus far).
