One of our readers says that they found the Altadena rabid bat listed here:

[The bat] was found in our backyard, alive, on the pool deck between our pool and home, a couple of weeks ago. It was clearly not well - all curled up into a little ball. I coaxed it into a box with a piece of cardboard, taped it up, and the LA County Department of Animal Care and Control literally had a truck there within 5 minutes of calling to pick it up (I'm sure that was simply fortuitous). We are not far from Lake and Loma Alta.
Something else to be wary of in the warm weather.
