Tomorrow, Friday, Sept. 14, is shaping up to be a busy day in Altadena (and it's our birthday, too!) Here's what's in store:
- Fancy Food Truck Friday: At the Webster's complex parking lot, 5-9 PM, enjoy the following food trucks:Sweet Arleen's, Baby's Badass Burgers, The Greasy Wiener, Greenz On Wheelz, Waken Bake Wagon, and Cairo Cowboy. Danny's Farm petting zoo will be there between 6-8 PM., and Webster's Community Pharmacy and Webster's Liquors will offer a 20% discount on selected items during the event.
- "Eccentric Poets": Webster's Fine Stationers presents "Eccentric Poets" in a night of spoken word and open mic goodness, as well as live painting, starting at 6 PM. Artists and authors participating are Aldonia Bailey, Heather Hilliard-Bonds, Joyce Miles, and Keni Davis. (They'll also be sampling a new herbal tea, which supposedly is calming despite the name: Crazy Bitch Tea.)
- Coffee doodles: Altadena residential designer/ artist/ etc. Steve Lamb will present a series of his improvised drawings in a show at the Coffee Gallery conference room, 2029 N. Lake Ave., starting at 8 PM. The drawings are on napkins, found paper, and the "backsides of local event fliers," according to the release we received. Present are architectural drawings, structural details, drawings of furniture, lighting, automobiles and political cartoons, along with three oil paintings. Light refreshments will be served
- Family Dance Night: Miss Lynnanne presents the fourth Summer Family Dance Night at Sue B Dance Studio, 2525 N. Lake Ave., from 6:15-7:15 PM. Dance the night away in a cool, air conditioned dance studio -- Swing, Salsa, line dances like The Electric Slide or even The Hustle, square dances or circle dances from the Appalachian mountains, and maybe some traditional dances from various European countries or far away places in Africa or Asia, AND let's not forget some current popular dances like the "Cupid Shuffle!" Cost is $7 per person, under five years are free, or $20 for three or more family members payable in cash at the door the night of the event. For questions or to RSVP (you should RSVP) contact dancecommunity@earthlink.net.
