Altadena and Sierra Madre CERT teams will go head-to-head in competition Saturday.
But it's a friendly competition: the Community Emergency Response Teams will compete in training exercises in a family-friendly community event at Sierra Madre Memorial Park, 232 W. Sierra Madre Blvd., Sierra Madre, from 10 AM-3 PM.
CERT team members will compete in putting out small fires, rescuing victims, and demonstrate disaster medical operations. You'll also have a chance to find out more about how to be better prepared when disaster strikes and find out about the CERT program and training.
Carolyn Seitz tells us that they're also looking for "victims" to e rescued. You need to be at the park at 7:30 AM, "dressed in clothing you won't mind getting dirty or damaged. We hope to only damage your clothing, not you!!" (Email her at cmseitz@mindspring.com)
Hot dogs and drinks will be available for a small charge, and you're welcome to bring a potluck dish to share.
