- Centre College students: Taylor Cafferata (son of Rebecca Cafferata and Reynolds Cafferata) and Ashley Merkin (daughter of Lisa and John Merkin) are Altadenans who are now attending Centre College in Danville KY. This first-year class will also be witness as Centre steps onto the world stage as host to the only vice presidential debate of 2012, on Oct. 11, the second in the school's history. It remains the smallest college in the smallest town ever to host a general election debate.
- Greaves to Carleton College: Samuel Greaves, son of Richard Greaves and Lorraine Greaves, has been admitted to Carleton College, a private college of 2,000 students located 40 miles south of Minneapolis/St. Paul.
- The Biggest Thing that Man Has Ever Done: The Allendale Branch Library, 1130 S. Marengo Ave., Pasadena, concludes its celebration of the centenary of Woody Guthrie with a screening of "Woody Guthrie: Ain't Got No Home" on Sat., Sept 29, at 2 PM. The screening will be introduced by Ed Cray, professor of journalism at the University of Southern Californa and author of the biography "Ramblin' Man: The Life and Times of Woody Guthrie."
