The Pasadena Unified School District is encouraging parents to attend Back to School Nights to "meet teachers, see classrooms and get a glimpse of their child’s daily routine," according to a press release from the district.
At Back to School Nights, parents also get to see the curriculum, goals for achievement and expectations for homework and behavior. There are also opportunities to join the PTA or school site council.
“Our schools offer wonderful opportunities for parents to volunteer and get involved,” said Supt. Jon Gundry. “Whether you can contribute knowledge and skills or leadership and advocacy, our schools welcome you as partners to support student achievement.”
To maximize their time during the event, parents are urged to arrive promptly and ask questions that are relevant to the entire class, such as how parents can support learning at home, projects and homework. Questions about an individual child’s progress or needs should be discussed privately with the teacher.
