This Sunday, the Andrew Blackwood Memorial Blood Drive -- City of Hope's largest blood drive -- will take place at the community hall of St. Mark's Church, 1014 E. Altadena Dr., this Sunday, 7:10 AM - 1:10 PM.
Nick and Jonas Bass at St. Mark's give some history:
Twelve years ago Andy Blackwood was a Boy Scout at St. Mark's when he contracted cancer. While he was being treated at City of Hope, he had three goals. He wanted to graduate from high school with his friends, become an Eagle Scout and organize a blood drive to help other people with cancer.
Andrew lost his battle with cancer, but he lived long enough to achieve all three of his goals. Each year since, Troop 1 has held this blood drive in his memory ... Refreshments and comfortable beds will be provided by City of Hope. This is City of Hope's largest blood drive. Please help keep it that way!
