The Los Angeles Parks and Recreation department will hold its annual holiday party and toy giveaway next Friday, Dec. 21, but there's one problem:
No toys.
Because of tight budgets, Parks can't buy toys themselves, and have relied on donations from the public to help make Christmas happy for children in the area.
But this year, not so much.
Farnsworth Park put out an appeal for donations around Thanksgiving, but "We have had no donations so far," said Angie Calleros, recreation service supervisor at the park.
The toy giveaway is scheduled for 6 PM Friday, but at this point nobody's sure what will happen if there are no toys to be had.
