Next Saturday, Dec. 8, Altadena becomes a small town as we welcome in the season with "light's on" for Christmas Tree Lane.
Christmas Tree Lane -- Santa Rosa Avenue between Woodbury Road and Altadena Drive -- will be lit up through the Christmas season after the community pomp and ceremony. now more than 90 years old.
The day begins with the Winter Arts and Crafts Festival, which begins at 2 PM at the Altadena LIbrary parking lot, 600 E. Mariposa St. Fifteen vendors will be selling handmade items, along with four food trucks in attendence. Santa Rosa Avenue will be closed to traffic after 4 PM (and parking will be harder to come by), so early arrival is suggested.
The Lighting Ceremony begins at 6 PM, hosted by Altadena resident Tammy Trujillo of KPCC. The ceremony includes the Blair JROTC Color Guard and the singing of the national anthem by the Blair IB Singers. A local musical group, Daniel Landau and Smithfield Bargain, will perform.
When the lights are lit, the ceremony ends with the John Muir Alumni Marching Band leading the crowd down the Lane.
