Ebony Vaughns, 21, of Altadena was arrested by sheriff's detectives Wednesday morning on charges of identity theft and grand theft.
According to a release from the sheriff's department, detectives served a search warrant on the 2100 block of El Sereno Avenue. According to the release, "A lengthy investigation led detectives to the suspect’s apartment where evidence was discovered that identified Ebony Vaughns as the person who assumed the identity of a Bogart, Georgia woman and fraudulently obtained a $5000 cash advance on her credit card. "
Vaughns is being held on $50,000 bail, and is scheduled for arraignment today.
The press release also reminded residents to look out for any unusual activity on all credit cards and bank accounts. If you see anything unusual, notify the financial institution and file a police report with your local law enforcement agency immediately.
