Five Acres celebrates 125 years of pioneering services that promote safety, well-being and permanency for children and their families at its 125th Anniversary Gala, Swingin' on a Star – “The Spy Who Loved Five Acres” on Saturday, May 18, 2013, 5 p.m. at The Ambassador Campus in Pasadena. This event will raise critical funds to support its operating costs and ensure the continuation of its 11 programs which provide successful solutions for children and families in crisis. Event tickets are available at $250 per person and include live entertainment, cocktails, dinner, dancing, and the opportunity to bid on unique experiences in the live auction.
In 1888, Five Acres was founded on the belief that no child should ever be left without hope of a permanent loving family. Over the years, Five Acres has been working to provide effective education, prevention and treatment programs to address the varying needs of children and their families. Today, Five Acres is one of the oldest non-profit organizations in Southern California serving over 6,500 children and family members each year.
Distinguished guests who have confirmed their attendance include: Songwriter and producer, Tena Clark; Actor Matthew Lillard and his wife, Heather Helm; Writer Matt Nix and his wife, Melinda Stahl; Actors Sam Jaeger and his wife, Amber; and Chief Philip Sanchez of the Pasadena Police Department, to name a select few.
Carol Smith of Pasadena and Lisa Ashworth-McMullen of Altadena are this year’s event co-chairs and will provide vision and leadership for the child and family services very popular annual fundraiser. The event will also feature special guest and emcee, Wendy Burch, news reporter/anchor for KTLA morning news. In recognition of their long history of community support, Five Acres will honor Wells Fargo, represented by David DiCristofaro, President, Greater Los Angeles Region, and Jonathan Weedman, Senior Vice President, Wells Fargo Foundation.
