The Altadena Library continues its celebration of poetry month with a free workshop from Mary Torregrossa on Saturday, April 20.
Torregrossa is a founding member of the Emerging Urban Poets in Pasadena, dedicated to the open and welcoming free public space for writers and readers of all ages. She has taught poetry workshops to children, youth, and adults, to immigrants and individuals.
The Los Angeles poetry Festival selected Mary as a 2009 Newer Poet of LA. Mary has been profiled in the Los Angeles Times and in the Pasadena Journal, and has read her poems on Pacific Radio station KPFK. Mary's work is published in several anthologies, journals, and online.
The workshop, "Essence and Essential's for Writing Poetry: go where it takes you but take only what you need," is from 4 to 6 PM at the Altadena Library Community Room, 600 East Mariposa St.
