This April as National Poetry Month offers lots of poetry events to choose from. Three programs will be sponsored by the Friends of the Altadena Library including two poetry workshops (April 20 and 23) plus the annual Poetry and Cookies Celebration (April 27). These events are in turn part of the month-long San Gabriel Valley Poetry Festival.
This coming Saturday, April 6 at 3 PM is the “kickoff” event for the festival and features a free raffle and prizes for all readers! The reading is hosted by Rina Rose and Mary Torregrossa inside the backroom of the Santa Catalina Branch of the Pasadena Public Library on 999 East Washington Blvd. So dust off that poem you have hidden in your drawer and get ready to read, write or listen to some great poetry. See below for a schedule of all of the events in the festival.

Tuesday, April 9, 7 to 10 PM - ZZyZx WriterZ MEETING & READING hosted by Kimberly Cobian, backroom of Garfono's Pizza, 5468 Valley Blvd. El Sereno near Cal State L.A. (Casual reading and networking with fellow writers and artists. Bring some writing or art to share.)
