A resident on the 1300 block of Sunny Oaks Circle was startled this morning when she saw a bear and two cubs in her kitchen.
According to Sgt. Booker Hollis of Crescenta Valley Sheriffs Station, the owner of the house heard some noise in her kitchen and went downstairs to check on it. She saw an adult bear and two cubs in her kitchen, eating either out of her trash or the cupboards, Hollis said.
According to Hollis, the owner screamed and the bears left, stopping at the trash cans in the front yard. Altadena deputies were called at about 11:10 AM. Deputies and Fish & Game employees went to the house, and a helicopter hovered over the neighborhood, but the bears were gone by then.
The location was not too far from the corner of Palm Street and Holliston Avenue, where a bear and cub were found rooting through trash Thursday morning.
