- Art: Alta-artist Mark Dean Veca will participate in the California-Pacific Triennial at the Orange County Museum of Art in Newport Beach. Formerly known as the California Biennial, OCMA has re-envisioned this important survey of contemporary California art and will re-launch it as the California-Pacific Triennial in 2013 with participating artists representing a cross-section of countries from throughout the Pacific rim. - Do at the zoo: Do you love animals? Children? Are you looking for a rewarding volunteer opportunity? Check out the Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association (GLAZA) docent training program at an information meeting on Saturday, July 20, 2013, 10 am to noon, at the Los Angeles Zoo's Witherbee Auditorium. GLAZA's docent program, open to ages 18 and up, provides comprehensive training, with no previous experience necessary. Reservations for the July 20 information meeting are not required; check-in tables will be set up at the Zoo entrance. - Altadena gala helps PMHC: Over 100 guests attended Pasadena Mental Health Center’s sixth annual Fête – "Change the Beat" on Saturday, June 22 at Matt Nix and Melinda Stahl’s private estate in Altadena, raising over $35,000 in contributions for children and families who rely on PMHC for accessible mental health services. The event recognized Frank Taylor who served as PMHC’s board chair in 1984 and has provided loyal support to the organization for more than 29 years. Johanna Metzger was the event chair and provided vision and leadership to ensure the success of the event.
