Happy Fourth of July! We're enough of a flag-waving patriot that we celebrate the founding of what is still the greatest nation in the world, the "last best hope of earth" in Lincoln's phrase, the nation that drew our families from Scotland, Ireland, England, Canada, and Germany (after a pass through Russia).
A few notes for today:
- Several neighborhoods are having parades (Sonoma Drive and Pepper Drive's both start at 10 AM today). If your neighborhood is holding festive activities today, please send us pictures!
- Gate at Chaney Trail closed last night and will remain so for the duration of the holiday.
- Altadena Sheriffs will be out in force tonight looking for illegal fireworks. Call 798-1131 to report whatever needs reporting.
- Because there WILL be illegal fireworks tonight -- and the Rose Bowl Americafest fireworks will be heard throughout Altadena as well -- please secure your pets indoors and take measures of comfort for them.
