July 4 in Altadena was a busy day for the Altadena Sheriff's station.
According to a report to the Community Advisory Committee from Capt. John S. Benedict, in the 24 hours of July 4, there were 29 calls for fireworks, compared to 48 calls in 2012. Benedict said that deputies "took appropriate action by warnind and advising and/or citing."
Benedict elaborated: "I’m hoping our efforts to educate the community paid off. I realize we will never completely stop fireworks during this time of the year, but we are making progress. We contacted many residents that were having parties that had reached a level of complaints that required us to ask them to either lower the noise level or we completely shut them down. "
