- Annexing the forest: Facebook friends of forest protector Paul Ayers have been entertained lately with his recent series of pictures: while scouting out potential new hiking trails, he's shared pictures of people who live on the edge of the Angeles National Forest making incursions into the forest itself. One adjoining property owner has built a miniature golf course within the forest’s boundaries, and another one is pornographer Max Hardcore, whose forest-adjacent mansion serves as his set ... but there's some evidence that he's shooting in the forest itself.
- Housing charges: Pasdena Weekly’s Andre Coleman runs a story about two Aladena residents who are facing criminal charges on their Pasadena properties. One of them, Nicholas Benson Mnkandia aka the Rev. Dr. Nicholas Benson, was a Pasadena city council candidate who dropped out after questions about his past, not to mention his probable Altadena residency, were exposed. The other, Jeanette Broussard, owned a house that burned down in a fire that took two lives last year. Both are charged with over 100 counts each involving running illegal boarding houses. Story is here.
- Trojan baby: (sounds like a contradiction to us, but ...) Joe Piasecki, our old colleague at the Pasadena Sun writing for the Burbank Leader, reports that the Trojan baby is Nolan, son of Doris Trujillo and Jeremy Willenborg of Altadena, the first baby born at Verdugo Hills Hospital since it was acquired by USC.
