Eliot School Schedule: Yes, PUSD schools have only been open a couple of weeks, but it’s already time to take time off: Eliot MIddle School dismisses at 1:15 PM today (Thursday) so teachers can prepare for Back to School Night, which starts at 6 PM tonight. Tomorrow, Eliot dismissses early (12:15 PM), as does every other PUSD school, and doesn’t re-convene until next Tuesday, after Labor Day.
Fly away teachers: NASA is offering an educator workshop, 'Things that Fly," a look at aeronautics, on Sat., Sept. 14, from 10 AM-12:30 PM at the NASA/JPL Educator Resource Center in Pomona. Bring the fun of "Things That Fly" into your classroom! Construct aircraft models (kites, helicopters and gliders) and launch rockets! Use questioning strategies and engineer redesigns to make these activities educationally challenging links to Common Core State Standards and The Next Generation Science Standards. Reconsidering the Arroyo: NewTown, the Altadena-based arts collective, has issued a call for artists in any media for a show tentatively called “Reconsidering the Arroyo,” to be held Nov. 2-3 along a stretch of the Arroyo Seco. “Reconsidering the Arroyo" will present 15-20 installations and performative installations along a half mile trail in Pasadena’s historic Lower Arroyo Park.
