A lovely August night it was,
Bob Meyer said out loud.
"Let's fire the grill and dine on fish.
of grilling I'm quite proud."
Oh yes, the grill was burning hot,
the night was warm and clear.
The family gathered lovingly
for family is quite dear.
A man, his family and some fish,
and back yard place to cook.
A dream American you know,
with outdoor lovers nook!
Fish cooking on the grill, so sweet
then family passing by,
heard sounds of harmony and love,
a brun, mom did spy.
A peeping bear is on the loose?
Were hungry cubs there too?
The patron saint of bears, I've heard,
is Goldilocks--It's true!
In old bear lore her tale is told,
this lost and hungry she.
She cried, " This place so cozy too!
This lovely place suits me!"
So in she walked and tried out bowls
and beds to calm her plight.
The smallest bed and smallest bowl,
she cried, " This one's just right!"
So now you see, why bears do come;
it's in bear's ancient lore
For Goldilocks she set the tone,
and sharing makes the score!
So luck was with the Meyers true,
as bear sniffed hungrily!
Then mom bear said" Oh! People there!
Tis not our place to be!"
Dog Days of August do commence,
warm days bring out warm nights;
and grilling food is oh so fun;
but hungry bears bring frights!
Bob Meyer and your family, sir,
you did things right you know.
And left the scene quite speedily,
No bruin horror show!
So, Altadena be alert!
A bear family is near
A bear family as dinner guests?
Be wise and have bear fear!
For bears will be their bruin selves
and nature is their ace.
We coexist with wildlife here,
thats why we love the place!
