Bulgarini Gelato Summer Movie Night: Lo Scopone Scientifico (The Scientific Cardplayer) starring Bette Davis & Albert Sordi. An aging American millionairess journeys to Rome each year with her chauffeur George to play the card game "scopone" with destitute Peppino and his wife Antonia. The annual scenario remains unchanged: she donates the initial stakes so they can play, then ultimately wins the game, shattering the couple's dream of scoring a victory and improving their lot in life. Eventually their daughter Cleopatra seeks revenge on her parents' behalf. Movies are always free. Dinner will be offered - by reservation only - for $13.50, which will include a homemade pasta dish, salad, and a drink. Folly Bowl: a two-night extravaganza Saturday and Sunday: Carole Kim's "Threading: hidden folds of the query" will take place Saturday and Sunday night at the outdoor amphitheater. Doors open at 7:30 PM, $10 suggested donation, $5 for children.You are invited to bring your own picnic, blankets & cushions. Please transport all trash out as you exit. The Folly Bowl is at 1601 East Loma Alta Drive.
The Sheriff Support Group Summer Concert Series is dark this week, but will return to Farnsworth Park next Saturday with Dean Colley's "Hot August Night" tribute to Neil Diamond in the season's grand finale.
