The Los Angeles River Rally, previously announced for the Los Angeles State Historic Park for this Saturday, September 28, has been moved to Marsh Park, 2960 Marsh Street, two miles up the LA River in the Elysian Valley. The event will begin at 10:00 am.
"Marsh Park, down by the riverside, is a great venue for the River Rally," said rally organizer Tim Brick. "It will provide a greater focus on the purpose of the rally, which is to build grassroots support for Alternative 20, the most comprehensive plan developed by the Corps of Engineers. Participants will be able to experience the power of the living Los Angeles River as it flows right by the park and learn how they can be most effective in supporting the best LA River Program, Alternative 20."
Now that the US Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles River Study has been released, momentum is building for a dynamic and festive LA River event, and new participating organizations have joined the rally, including the Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition, Friends of the Los Angeles River, Urban Semillas, and the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority.
LA City Councilmembers Gilbert Cedillo and Mitchell O'Farrell will address the event along with a variety of community leaders. The rally will also feature exhibits and displays from particapting groups about the LA River and the benefits of Alternative 20, the most comprehensive of the river restoration programs under consideration by the US Army Corps of Engineers.
The rally is supported by a wide variety of community, grassroots organizations united in support of Alternative 20.
