The LACMA9 Art+ Film Lab is a program of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art that is traveling to nine locations to provide free film workshops, oral history, outdoor film screenings, and other activities.
Sponsored by LACMA in collaboration with the the City of Los Angeles Parks and Recreation Department and Arts Council, the film lab will land in Charles White Park in Altadena for a month starting next Friday, Sept. 13.
The Lab starts with an open house Friday night, Sept. 13, from 6-8 PM with music from the Louis Van Taylor Band starting at 7 PM. At 8 PM, there will be a screening of "La Havre."
Thereafter, the lab will be open every weekend (Friday-Sunday) for workshops, time for drop-ins for an oral history project, and film screenings, some with local flair (for example, "Mildred Pierce" take place mostly in Pasadena and Glendale; "Akeelah and the Bee" stars Altadena's own Keke Palmer).
