- This Old House: Mid-century modern architect Harold Bissner, Sr., 87 (father of man-about-Altadena Jamie Bissner) had a chance, at age 87, to revisit a house he’d created almost 60 years before. Bissner designed the Sechler House in Pasadena in 1954, and was a point of pride for Bissner until it started to deteriorate. However, after over a million dollars had been sunk into renovations, it’s now a showplace for the current owners, Evie and John DiCiaccio, and the elder Bissner approves. Nancy Keates at the Wall Street Journal tells the full story, but you have to read it soon before the story disappears behind the paywall. (Note: link fixed!)
- Terrier saga is almost over: The saga of the terrier trio at Chaney Trail looks like it’ll be a happy ending: one was captured and placed in a forever home thru the Pasadena Humane Society early on. After a lot of effort from concerned dog lovers, the other two have been nabbed and are safe, but looking for a forever home.
