Since late October, Southern California Edison has owned Lake Avenue along Altadena's business district, funnelling traffic into two lanes and eliminating long stretches of street parking.
Edison is removing and replacing an aging underground electircal vault in the street in front of the Bank of America, which has turned Lake Avenue into a zone of cones, K-rails, and temporary fencing in the street. According to Ben Wong, in Edison's public affairs office, the replacement and required electrical work may go on until the first week of December.
"There is a chance it could be sooner, but as with any construction project, unforeseen circumstances (you don't always know what you'll find once you start digging below the surface) could affect that schedule," Wong said in an email.
