Enjoy an evening of poetry by two highly regarded and recognized poets, Brendan Constantine and Mary Fitzpatrick onThursday, November 21, 7 PM. at the Altadena Main Library. This is the third event in the ALTA-L.A. poetry series hosted by Linda Dove, the library’s Poet Laureate. The series is sponsored by the Friends of the Al,tadena Library District. This event is supported by Poets & Writers, Inc. through a grant it has received from the James Irvine Foundation. Open mic. Admission is free.
Mary Fitzpatrick has an MFA from UMass-Amherst. Her poems have been featured in Atlanta Review and North American Review as contest finalists, have been finalists in the 2010 Beyond Baroque and Inkwell Poetry Contests, and have been published in such Journals as Agenda (UK), The Dos Passos Review, ASKEW, The Georgetown Review, and online by Writers at Work (L.A.). She lives in Pasadena.
Brendan Constantine is one of Southern California’s most recognized poets. He has served as a teacher of poetry in local schools and colleges. He brings poetry workshops to hospitals, foster care centers, & shelters for the homeless. He is also proud of his work with the Alzheimer’s Poetry Project. His poetry collection, Letters to Guns (Red Hen Press) is now taught extensively in schools throughout the Southland. He is also the author of Birthday Girl with Possum (Write Bloody Publishing) and Calamity Joe (Red Hen Press). He has an MFA from Vermont College of Fine Arts. Both poets can be seen on YouTube.
