Carolyn Seitz of the Altadena Sheriff's Station Citizen Advisory Council has passed on this reminder:
Lieutenant McLean at the Altadena Sheriff's Station is asking us all to pay more attention to what we're doing so we aren't victims of crime we might have avoided.
You've heard these things before, but here's your reminder.
Thieves are looking for unlocked vehicles, especially those with visible treasures inside. Conceal your cell phones, handbags, wallets, money, GPS devices, iPods or other MP3 players, laptops, designer sunglasses or other valuables or remove them from your vehicle. If you leave them visible in your car - regardless of whether your car is locked or unlocked, there is a high probability your things will be stolen.
Criminals are testing all of us. If you leave your house unlocked or your windows unlocked, you've just invited thieves inside.
Don't be a victim and please don't make it easy for burglars to just walk into your home and help themselves to your things.
Why is Lieutenant McLean asking us again to remember these things?
Because these kinds of crimes are on the increase and we need your help to stop it.
Thanks,
Carolyn
