Sat., Sept. 25, is National Public Lands Day, and believe it or not there are activities for this kind of thing. National Public Lands Day 2010 celebrates service and recreation on public lands while educating volunteers about the effects of climate change on our parks. Locally, the Angeles National Forest is holding a "fee free" day, where a National Forest Adventure Pass will not be needed. There are also volunteer work days scheduled at Santa Fe Dam and Whittier Narrows Recreation Area. For more information, call the San Gabriel River Ranger District at 335-1251, ext. 237.
