Me and Dr. Jones ... we got a thing, goin' on ... (sorry, we're having another flashback moment)
Caltech's disaster superstar Dr. Lucy Jones will deliver a free public lecture at Pasadena City College tomorrow:
California's winter storms, fed by "atmospheric rivers" above the Pacific, rival hurricanes in their potential for rainfall and damage by flooding. In the winter of 1861-1862, a series of storms caused such extensive flooding that one-third of the taxable land in California was considered destroyed. Come hear about the new understanding of these storms and the potential future impact to California.
Yet ANOTHER potential disaster to be worried about! But forewarned is forearmed, and it's part of a U.S. Geological Survey multi-university symposium taking place at PCC that day. More information on their website here:

This lecture is free and begins at 6 PM at Sexton Auditorium in the C building at Pasadena City College in Pasadena. There is plenty of free parking available in Lots 6 and 7.
