For those of us who live next to a police scanner tuned to the Pasadena police, the Rose Bowl parade and bowl game mean lots of opportunities to find out how it's going from the comfort of our own kitchen table -- yesterday it was moving illegal parkers, today it's moving illegal squatters and directing traffic. Tonight it'll be about moving drunks. Tomorrow it will be about all of those.
If you're willing to brave the parade, Laura Monteros has a whole game plan in the Patch, with the attention to detail we've come to expect from her.
Our own advice: watch the parade on TV, but be ready to run outside and look south when the B-2 flies over. It's always quite a sight. Sometimes it flies over again in the afternoon, just before the bowl game starts.
Altadena is well represented this year, with two Rose Princesses (Sarah Christine Fredrickson and Tenaya Miyoko Senzaki, both 17) but don't miss Luigi.
And before that all begins, don't forget that Altadena has some pretty exciting New Year's Eve activities tonight at the Coffee Gallery, the Rancho, and the Altadena Ale & Wine House, all of which we detail here.
Today, we'll be pretty buried writing our annual Top 10 Altadena stories, so we'll wish you a happy new year right now!
