The Los Angeles County Department of Public Works has released information shown below. Additional information is being provided by the Warning Coordinator Meteorologist at the National Weather Service.
For the Altadena burn areas:
RAINFALL
The alert issued distributed by Public Works was late today and doesn't provide information as far into the future as some of us would like to see. From the period 4:00 am this morning to 4:00 am Tuesday morning, they are anticipating 2.9 inches of rain. Additional information shown below is expecting an additional 4 to 8 inches of rain between now and Wednesday.
FLOODING, MUD & DEBRIS FLOWS
The County Department of Public Works continues to indicate that there will be little impact experienced from flooding, mud and debris flows in our areas. The National Weather Service says that the foothillareas are reaching full saturation. Stay alert!
ROAD CLOSURES
Road closures announced over the weekend remain in effect, that is, roads in the National Forest are closed - Angeles Crest Highway, Angeles Forest Highway through the area around Aliso Canyon. For Altadena, the Chaney Trail gate remains closed.
EVACUATION
The Millard Canyon Campground remains closed.
From the Warning Coordinator at the National Weather Service:
1. Thus far, LA County has had 2-5 inches at lower elevations, 4-8 inches in the foothills and mountains, maximum was 11 inches at Tanbark (a weather station in the mountains of the East SG Valley). Ground is closer to saturation.
3. Incoming rain source extends to west of Hawaii.
4. Raining now in Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties
5. Cold front west and north, dropping into CA Tuesday night into Wednesday
6. Today expect ½ to 1 inch, snow down to 5000 feet.
7. Expect a lull in the storm pattern late tonight and Tuesday except eastern LA County
8. Increasing wind 15-30 mph in the mountains
9. Wednesday cold and unstable air aloft
10. Expect totals of 4-8 inches today through Wednesday; depends on thunderstorms expected Tuesday night through Wednesday; should be short durations
11. Tuesday night through Wednesday: heavy rain, ½ to 1 inch per hour,especially near thunderstorms; winds south to southwest greater than 60 mph in the mountains; snow down to 5000 feet; urban and small stream flooding and debris flow possible; river flooding not expected;
