One of the best things about our Altadena Library and their Friends of the Library support group is the Distinguished Program Series of authors and others who come to speak about topics of interest. The library recently revealed its series for 2011, and all programs will be at the community room of the Altadena Main Library, 600 E. Mariposa St., unless otherwise noted:

Tues, Feb. 8: Image and ettiquette consultant Diana Olson, "Amazing Secrets of Color and Style," 7 PM.
Sat.. Feb. 12, 2 PM: Master storyteller Leslie Perry celebrating Black History Month and Lincoln's birthday.
March
Fri., March 11, 7 PM: Award-winning concert harpist Dr. Vanessa R. Sheldon in a program of Celtic harp music.
Mon., March 14, 7 PM: Author and former LAPD homicide detective Steve Hodel (Black Dahlia Avenger and Most Evil) will present evidence that the Black Dahlia killer was not only a serial killer -- but his own father.

Sat., April 9, 2 PM: The annual Poetry & Cookies bash -- enjoy poetry by local poets, and a limited number of open readings. This program will be at the Altadena Senior Center, 560 E. Mariposa St.
Fri., April 29, 7 PM: Alene Terzian and The Zephyr Poets: Altadena's poet laureate and friends share fresh insights into the human condition through poetry and verse. Open readers are invited.
