- Drug dealer: Susan Braig, who has been frequently featured on these pages, points us out to this LA Times story about her line of "Designer Drug Jewelry" made out of old medications, proceeds of which go to pay her medical bills. We like that it's not only art, it's satire. (Times is going into video, now, it seems.)
- Renovation nation: Something interesting came through the transom, since it's soon going to be renovation season: HGTV's renovation show "Professional Grade" is searching for outgoing and savvy homeowners who are about to start a renovation and think they can renovate a room cheaper and better than a contractor. The goal for homeowners is to source high-end materials on the cheap, take on the bulk of the labor themselves and manage their subcontractors to get the best quality work at below market prices. When the renovation is done, their experts price out the job based on the quality. If their estimate is higher than what their homeowners spent, the homeowners pocket the cash difference. The last BIGGEST winner took home $40,000. This could be a win win for homeowners...a chance to be on TV and have your renovation paid for. Interested candidates should email tseiler@highnoontv.com for an application.
