Of the several events going on Sat., June 11, one of the biggest is the American Cancer Society's third annual Altadena Relay for Life at Farnsworth Park, a 24-hour event. Heather Morrow, who has been keeping track of this for us, reports on the activities and the need for volunteers:
Set-up for the event starts at about 7:00 am. The Registration tent is set up first, and will be located in the southeast corner of the park, just up from the parking lot. We hope that registration can begin around 8:00 AM.*
*We need volunteers thoughout the day in 2 hour shifts to help man the registration desk. If you can help out, please let Rose West know.
Here's the very abridged version of the Program of Activities (it is truly packed full of wonderful musicians and activities):
9:00 am Opening Ceremony -- Celebrate!

More after the jump.
Throughout the day there are some amazing fight back activities. Also, Two Dragon Martial Arts Studio will have their regularly scheduled classes in the park and you can join in, for a small donation to their team.

We had a lot of donations of gift certificates and other cool items -- these will be raffled off, throughout the day (all proceeds going directly to Relay for Life of Altadena). And, as in years past, there will be a silent auction for some refurbished computer systems.
I don't know about you, but I am getting excited. Let your friends and family know that it is not too late to register. Just send them to the website www.relayforlife.org/altadenaca. Of course, you can register in person on the day of the event.

Remember there are no Relay Police -- you can come for a little of the event or become a "die-hard" and stay for the entire event. The most important thing is to come out and be a part of this amazing community event that truly makes a difference by raising money for cancer research, patient service, advocacty and education/awareness.
Even though there are no Relay Police, there are a few Relay Rules, that will be enforced:
No Smoking (also an LA County Park Ordinance)
No Alcohol
No Animals (except Service Animals)
No Gambling
A lot of effort on the part of the committee members and team captains has been put forth to make this event one to remember. Come join us in this life changing event!
Sincerely,
Heather Morrow, Online Chair
