One of our readers who lives near Ventura and Lincoln Ave. had this encounter late Monday afternoon:
I saw a suspicious man crossing my lawn. I just got home from the store so my door was unlocked. I ran to the door and locked it. He knocked. I went to the sliding glass door in the dining room and asked if I could help him. He mumbled a lot and said he needed some water.
I live down a private driveway. It is very difficult to even find our house from the street. If he truly needed water any other house would be a better place to start. I asked him to repeat himself. He got belligerent and wanted water. I had my two young kids home so I wasn't about to open the door. I told him sorry but he was welcome to help himself to the hose. He shook his head no. I gave him a look back, "I'm calling the cops." He then said, "I better go." He left. I called the cops.
He is a Latino man w/ goatee. White t-shirt. Long, colorful shorts. He was carrying a Super King bag.
