One casualty of the major remodel of the Altadena Sheriff's Station is a 12 year tradition: The Haunted Jail.
The Haunted Jail was an annual project of the Sheriff's Support Group of Altadena, a spooky Halloween visit through the station's otherwise-unused jail cell. But now that the station has been remodeled -- including windows and a new coat of paint for the jail -- the ghosts have been chased out, according to SSGA's Robert Klomburg.
"Simply put, our 12 year tradition of mounting the Haunted Jail is, well, over." Klomburg writes in the SSGA's website. "There will be no Haunted Jail this year, or any year in the future. While the Posse and SSGA will miss putting on this annual event, we feel it is more important to have a fully functioning Sheriff's Station."
The jail has been unused for many years, as it doesn't come up to current standards. Arrestees are taken to the Crescenta Valley Sheriff's Station, and the cells will be put to other uses.
